Precoating filter cartridge

What is precoating?

Precoating refers to the application of an additional layer to a cartridge filter. During filtration, the particles collect on the precoating layer and thus only indirectly on the filter cartridge. A cleaning mechanism removes the particle layer from the filter, extending the life of the filter cartridge. Instead of replacing the filter, a new precoat is applied.

Why precoating?

Filters quickly become saturated, especially when used to collect sticky dust emissions such as resins. The particles stick together and clog the pores of the filter material, causing the cartridge to become clogged in a short period of time. Precoating protects the filter cartridge from clogging and makes cleaning easier. The coating is applied prior to filtration. The precoat is metered to create an even layer for optimal protection. The cleaning process takes place after each filtration cycle. Compressed air pulses cause the particles to fall into the system’s dust container. The precoating agent is added again to form a new layer on the filter. To ensure effective filtration, this process must be repeated at regular intervals, which significantly extends the functionality and service life of the filter cartridges, even with large amounts of dust or wet, sticky dust.
