Anything that remains in the air is inhaled, spreads throughout the work area, and settles on machines and components. Clean air is therefore not just a matter of occupational safety: it is a <b>factor in productivity and quality<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b><strong>Clean air has a triple effect: human beings, processes, products<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Protecting health:<\/b> Less polluted air means better working conditions \u2013 especially where emissions occur on a permanent basis.<\/p>\n<p><b>Stabilizing processes:<\/b> Less deposits and contamination, less cleaning effort, fewer disruptions.<\/p>\n<p><b>Reducing costs:<\/b> When pollution levels fall, in the best case scenario the proportion of absenteeism-related complaints also falls \u2013 and with it direct and indirect costs.<\/p>\n<p><b><strong>Absenteeism costs money \u2013 and respiratory diseases are a major factor<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The BAuA estimates a total of <b>881.5 million days of incapacity to work<\/b> for 2024. This results in an economic loss of <b>\u20ac134 billion in lost production<\/b> and <b>\u20ac227 billion in lost gross value added<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Within the diagnosis groups, <b>\u201cdiseases of the respiratory system\u201d (ICD J00\u2013J99)<\/b> account for<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><strong>159.2 million days of incapacity to work (18.1%)<\/strong><\/b><\/li>\n<li><b><strong>\u20ac24.3 billion in lost production<\/strong><\/b><\/li>\n<li><b><strong>\u20ac41.0 billion in lost gross value added<\/strong><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Important for classification:<\/b> These BAuA figures show the magnitude of incapacity for work and costs \u2013 they do <b>not<\/b> say that respiratory diseases are <b>caused by poor workplace air<\/b> to this extent. However, they illustrate why prevention and effective air technology are economically relevant.<\/p>\n<p><b><strong>Where emissions typically occur<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Depending on the industry and process, emissions occur, for example, during:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Grinding, cutting, milling (fine dust)<\/li>\n<li>Welding, soldering (smoke\/particles)<\/li>\n<li>Laser and thermal processes (aerosols)<\/li>\n<li>Chemical\/adhesive processes (vapors\/VOCs)<\/li>\n<li>Additive\/powder handling (dust, particles)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>The source is crucial: extraction before everything spreads<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The earlier emissions are captured, the more effective the overall system is.
