Using laser on hair follicles produces laser smoke when burning the hair. A coolant is sprayed to avoid burning the skin. Hair burns in the laser light, which can cause inflammatory reactions. The enormous smoke development is extremely poisonous. Therefore, extract and filter laser smoke reliably.
Patients expect infection protection and cleanliness. They feel insecure and uncomfortable when they, for example, smell burnt skin particles or see laser smoke.
Yet the practical and handy solution calms down patients during laser treatments. Due to the special design and the disposable filter directly in the capture element, filter and extraction systems by TBH provide particularly high protection against dangerous particles in the laser smoke. The casters allow moving the system quickly to wherever the physician needs it. The whole system can be cleaned in only a few steps.
The exposure that occurs during laser treatment is a mixture of biological, cellular particles that can also appear as gas or vapor. Particles can be larger than 200 micrometers but also smaller than 10 nanometers, depending on how intensely energy is applied to the tissue. A study in 1987 by Byrne et al. (1987) was just one of many that detected papillomaviruses and multidrug-resistant pathogens in laser smoke. Other studies that came to the same conclusion were by e.g. Garden, 1988; Sawchuk, 1989; Kashima, 1989; Gloster, 1995. Furthermore, researchers found a list of other harmful particles in laser smoke:
Benzene (classified as carcinogenic to humans by IARC)
Bone marrow aplasia, leukemia, nausea, dizziness, headache
Tuluol and xylene
Depressive properties on nervous system, irritation of skin, eyes and respiratory mucosa
Irritation to airways, allergen to skin and respiratory system, carcinogen to sinuses
Irritation of the airways
Affects nervous system, indigestions, damage to liver, kidneys and lungs
Irritation of eyes and respiratory mucosa, difficulty swallowing, vomiting, diarrhea, hematuria, loss of appetite, headache, drowsiness
Hydrogen cyanide (HCN)
Do not cause acute symptoms, however, it is a chronic poisoning that shows in headache, weakness, dizziness, tremors, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, weight loss and conjunctivitis, etc.
In two studies on rats exposed to CO2 laser smoke, the researchers demonstrated an irritant effect on the lungs. There was no clinical or histological effect, if the smoke was led through a high-performance filter system before that retains particles up to the size of 0.1 micrometers.

It is not easy to distinguish between the crucial differences of the many filter and extraction systems available on the market. For example, the highest airflow rate and best filters are of relatively little use if the capture element is not properly optimized for your process. Another important aspect is cleaning: the InLine filter captures particles directly at their point of origin. The fewer, harmful particles remain in the extraction arm on the way to the filters in the system, which significantly minimizes the cleaning effort.
The optimum hygiene concept ensures the residue-free removal of all contamination by bioburden on and in the extraction system. The independent, accredited test laboratory CleanControlling Medical GmbH & Co. KG in Emmingen-Liptingen tested and confirmed the effectiveness of the TBH hygiene concept. In a few simple steps, the capture construction consisting of the capture element, extraction arm with joints and the base tube as well as the cover of the extraction system, can be effectively cleaned. The InLine filter in the capture element catches the first particles, while the others enter the filter and extraction system. We recommend to change the InLine Filter daily or at least once a week, depending on the system's usage purpose and intensity.
Particles in aerosols or laser smoke obstruct visibility, smell unpleasantly and are harmful to anyone around. A solution for this is a filter and extraction system that captures these harmful particles in its filters. The advantage of additional direct filtration in capturing with an extraction system is that the filters in the system do not saturate as quickly and fewer particles can settle in its extraction arm.
Liquid separator is no longer needed because of the InLine patient filter.
Laser and electrosurgical procedures can cause intense exposure to pyrolysis products. These surgical fumes consist of gaseous and vaporous, liquid or solid substances with various hazardous material properties. When tissue is burned, an additional intense odor is produced. The components contained in the smoke can be of biological origin and have carcinogenic, mutagenic and reproductive toxic properties. Laser processes are considered likely to spread biologically active cells. Exposure to ultrafine particles in the air concentration may affect the airways of workers during treatment.
Skin tags are small growths which tends to hang off the skin. Laser therapy removes specific skin layers in a controlled manner. The particles that arise in this process, should be extracted from the air completely.
Our filter and extraction systems collect all particles safely from the air.
Laser therapy is an effective way of removing pigments such as age spots. The selective destruction of tattoo pigments takes place by adsorption of laser radiation. The doctor and medical staff want themselves and their patients to be safe during the treatment.
Laser eye surgery is one of the most common procedures in modern laser surgery. More and more patients have their eyes lasered to see well without glasses or contact lenses.
If a birthmark has to be removed, it can either be cut out completely or removed by laser treatment. All conspicuous moles that can potentially degenerate malignant should be completely removed. The birthmark removal takes place under local anesthesia.
Any treatment in a dental practice creates high aerosol concentrations. Oral suction only eliminates coarse particles. The smallest ones are lighter than air and thus continuously whirl around and disperse when they are not extracted from the air.
A laser eliminates hair follicles. Its light destroys the target structures. The generated heat can cause slight burns. This leads to smoke, unpleasant smells from burned skin and dangerous gases.

The suction tip is generally used for smoke and particles where no grid cover is required.
The suction tip with integrated protection grid ensures avoiding extraction of foreign bodies. The grid has a convex design to reduce the risk of material being sucked - non-intentionally or intentionally - onto the grid surface during a procedure, thus blocking the air flow and the extraction arm.
The shown reducer can be attached at the end of the extraction arm. This enables the connection of electrosurgical pencils and the smoke evacuation hand piece. That gives you the opportunity to use one extraction system for all your procedures and applications. A reducer fitting allows for the attachment of smaller diameter hoses (10.5 - 22 mm). These hoses are often used to keep accessibility and visibility at a maximum.
The transparent, flat extraction hood enables a wider capture range of particles. The flat hood's dimensions are 330x240 mm. Its transparent design in polycarbonate allows the physician and medical staff a clear view to the work surface.
The transparent, square extraction hood, with dimensions of 245x220 mm, increases the capture range of particles. Due to the transparent polycarbonate design, the physician and medical staff can look directly at the work surface.
The transparent, round extraction hood enables an extended range for capture. The hood has a diameter of 385 mm and is made of polycarbonate. This gives the physician and medical staff an unobstructed view at the work surface.
The new, patented InLine filter works as pre-filter and captures potentially infectious aerosols and particles from the practice air. It prevents them from spreading. The occupational health and safety guidelines stipulate that extracting is required and that wearing personal protective equipment alone is not sufficient. Only the combination provides optimal protection.
The electrical foot switch allows to control the start/stop function of the system easily.
The remote allows controlling the system from a distance. You do not have to leave your workplace to switch your filter and extraction system on or off or to monitor the filter status.
The hose set includes a suitable hose for your filter and extraction system, and depending on the system and substance to be extracted, eg. wire hose clamps, nipples or connecting sleeves for correct compression.
Our products cover a wide range of needs in filter and extraction technology for industry sectors and applications. We want to offer you the optimal price/performance ratio, and that is the reason you can choose of our small systems between BF9 and BF10 .

Filter service lives are very dependent on the application and therefore, cannot be predicted generally.
Normally, the change takes place according to the filter status display on the system.
In medicine / dental / aesthetics applications, the filters have to be changed at least every ½-year due to the bacteria / nucleation. We recommend, regardless of the filter status display, the following filter change intervals:
Replace pre filter mat
Replace main filter
The exchange takes place regardless of the filter status display for the following reasons:
Possible contamination of filter with viruses and the growth of fungi and bacteria on the surface. Biological contamination cannot be monitored via the filter display.
Saturation of the activated carbon with process gases and their aging (even with a low pollutant content). This cannot be monitored via the filter display.
The InLine filter has to be changed and disposed after each use.
In addition to the required guarantee period of 12 months, your filter and extraction system will have ex works a guarantee of 24 months.
These will be supplemented by a maximum additional operating hours display.
BF9: 24 months / 600h
BF10: 24 months / 5000h

No, normal room ventilation is not sufficient to remove aerosols and harmful particles from the air. A room ventilation does not prevent the distribution of aerosols and particles in the room before they are captured and led outside. The harmful effect on health is not reliably prevented in this way.
A surgical extraction device can only be used for liquids. In addition, it only extracts approx. 40 l / min. In comparison, our filter and extraction system extracts 5000l/min.
No, the medical facemask only protects against larger droplets that are produced, e.g. when speaking, but not against dangerous gases and aerosols. The medical facemask, however, is an useful addition to the filter and extraction system, as it reduces e.g. the virus load that enters the environment.
The maintenance of filter and extraction systems in medical use is carried out from two different points of view. On the one hand, the hygienic operation must be the top priority and on the other hand, the extraction power / system performance must not be impaired. For this purpose, the different filter levels are considered differently. As a rule, InLine filters have to be changed after each patient, at least daily, while the main filters of the system have to be changed every half year or according to the filter status display.
The filter and extraction system sucks in the smoke directly at its point of origin. The airflow directs the particles through the filters in the system. This process improves visibility, which obstructs the smoke gas if it is not extracted. The laser smoke and the contained tissue particles cannot settle on the skin or other surfaces and cannot cause further health risks.
