ATEX guidelines

Glossary entry

ATEX guidelines

ATEX (ATmosphère Explosible)-guidelines regulate the precautions from potential dangers in explosive atmospheres. In a mixture of flammable substances such as gases, vapors, mists or dusts in the air, an ignition in a combustion process can be transmitted to the whole mixture. To eliminate this risk of explosion, ATEX guidelines provide appropriate protection requirements for devices and methods. These EU guidelines are also part of the law.
